So my trusty old ISF calibrated Toshiba TW40X81 is getting on in years but it has always served me well. When I first got it there was a problem with the red gun not shutting off when it was supposed to. This was most evident when the screen was black and not receiving a signal, there was still a red hue on the screen. The problem was fixed under warranty and seemed to be gone as long as the tv was receiving a 480i or 480p signal. When I got a HD-PVR back in the summer the problem reappeared but only when receiving an HD(1080i) signal. I was living with it until I got my PS3 and now it's starting to really annoy me. I'm thinking that when they "fixed" my tv originally they didn't actually replace the red gun, but maybe adjusted a setting of some sort in the service menu? Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this problem? I'm comfortable enough going into the service menu. If I screw something up what the worst that could happen, I'm forced to buy a shinny new tv?
