Hello, I just picked up an old Sansui integrated amp. AU-317 50 watts/channel and built in the late 70s. Cost me $40. Not only is this thing built like a tank, it still sounds very good. Even better then my 1 year old Onkyo sr600 receiver. Smoother sound and tighter, more controlled bass. Just wondering how much I would have to spend to get the same sound out of a receiver.

Nice job...do tell how you came across it. They were hefty units then weren't they? I've got a very old Sansui receiver that still plays quite well. I don't know if you can really tell the difference between them when playing both in 2 channel mode. That would take considerably more effort to reduce bias and ensure that output levels were matched. Why not use it to power your front two channels and let the receiver handle the rest?
