I have a 20-year old Onkyo TX-2500 MK2 receiver and would like to know if I can hook my DVD's audio output to the Tape2 inputs on this receiver? I would like to use my stereo system's speakers (Bose 501) when watching DVDs instead of the TV speakers. Could the DVD's audio output overdrive the receiver? This is just a stopgap measure until I get enough cash for a new receiver and surround speakers.
Should I even consider keeping the Bose 501s in a surround sound system? If not, then I would like to replace them with bookshelp speakers to save space. Any recomendations?
    Thanks much,
    Dave

The analog audio output to the receiver will work fine.
