I've got this old laptop computer - isn't good for much, but I thought that the LCD display may make a reasonable monitor (not hi-def of course) for my main system. I'd usually use when we're heading out and my wife says "I forgot to set the DVR to record...". I would think that I could power this up faster that my rear projection set. Problem is, I really don't want to use the computer part - just the LCD. Is there a board or interface available that would allow me to use this old LCD this way?

You can buy controller cards for Laptop LCDs, but they tend to be quite expensive. A brand new 15" LCD would be basically the same cost.
