Seasons Greetings all,
As a reasonably informed HT buff, I am wondering about being able to hook up a new plasma tv to a older pioneer vsx-452 without to many issues, the system has not given me any trouble for 15 years and at this point i see no reason to spend anything more, at least for a couple months. I have not bought the tv yet, due to the possibility of having to purchase a sound system with the tv. I would appreciate any and all advice on this matter.
Thanks in advance.

All of today's TV's can be hooked up to older equipment using composite video, S-video, etc. connections if need be.

You will want to be sure the TV has "enough" inputs. One input generally cannot be both composite and S-video depending on which source device happens to be turned on.

You can run all of your video sources into an older A/V receiver with the final video outputs (including both composite and S-video if needed) feeding TV inputs. At the same time you can run cables from the TV audio output to a receiver input letting you play the sound from over-the-air broadcasts on your sound system.
