I was wondering if it's OK to leave my Hughes Gold Edition model DSS receiver on all the time?
I haven't been able to find discrete on/off codes for it to use with my RS 1994 remote so I was thinking of just leaving it on all the time.
    Thanks for any input,
    Rob

Most satellite receiver just mute the A/V outputs when you turn them 'off'. If they are smart they could turn off the MPEG decoder chips too, but how much juice do they soak up?
When off the receiver must listen for guide updates, new channels, PPV clear codes, deactivation signals, etc. So most of the circuitry is in use 100% of the time.
