I've made my decision. Just wondering who else is going for the preorder. Should be a noticable upgrade for me, going from a 20-39PC w/original driver to the double bubble PB2+
I had planned on it for a long time Chip but one thing led to another and I found myself going with the AV15 with the QSC RMX-850 amp built by Brian Bunge from Rutledge Audio. 28"H X 24W X 26D black oak enclosure tuned to 20Hz. Really looking forward to it. I think the PB2+ will prove to be another stellar product produced by SVS along with there top notch customer service. I still might have to pick one up?? Time will tell. Options in bass can be a good thing.
I am waiting for the pre-orders to start too. The size will make it a very nice end table so maybe my wife will want one for each end of the sofa (until it knocks all her pictures off the wall). Will it come with two port blockers or will I need to add them to the order? I may start with it tuned to 16Hz and remove a port blocker if it is not loud enough.
That's a good question.. i don't know. Maybe TV or Ron will chime in and let us know if the port blockers are included or, not. Funny, i was thinking of starting with a 16hz tune too. The size is one of the swaying factors for me as well. 17" wide means it'll slide in right where my 20-39PC is right now in my small room. When my basement HT is completed i won't have to worry about the slender width as far as placement goes..
From other threads in this forum: Two down-firing dB12 (Plus) drivers in a 17w x 29d x 25h black box with a roughly 850 Watt BASH amp. Three 4" ports for 25, 20, and 16Hz tuning. Weight about 120 pounds. Will play louder than a single Ultra above 25Hz but slightly less than two CS-Plus or PC-Plus models. Close to an Ultra below 20Hz. I expect the design is still being tweaked, so these specs may change.
I would consider one of these later when I redo the room and replace the ole M&K that I have but the Acoustic Visions Timult based Kilimanjaro seems like it would put out a bit more low end. That's what I've been reading atleast. Someone can correct me.
I'm no expert but, seems too me the Kilimanjaro is a sealed design right ? if so, i don't see how it would be better in the low end. I'd think a ported or PR'd design would be better. Believe me, i've considered subs by Brian, Kyle and Tom&Ron for this upgrade. They all have excellent solutions. If your looking for a sub from Kyle with an ass kick'n bottom end, go for the Denali...that's what i considered (Brian Rultledge builds something very similar as well without a builtin amp). Although the Kilimanjaro is sealed, i believe it would still be respectable on the low stuff. Who could argue with the Temult..lol..
Tom V. replied to an email last Thursday (March 27th) i sent him with this:
" We are really in the very final vendor issues with this one. I thought we would have a pre-order started by now…but I’m afraid it looks like it will be another 5-7 business days before we can start that. "
He said to check the News section on his site for updates.
