with the cowboy boots? Did I miss something when watching Halloween 1-4? hehehe
That's why they made a 6th film.
Here it goes...
Apparently Michael is actually the heavy hitter for an evil orginization, and that Michael's evil stems from a curse called 'The Thorn'. The guy in Halloween 5 was the leader of this group who's finally revealed in Halloween 6. Part of Michael's curse commands that he kill every surviving member of his family for some reason or another, I guess because only a blood relative can kill him.
At first I found this storyline intriguing, but now I find it needless. I like the story in it's simplest form, which is why i'm greatful that they dropped it for Halloween H20.
According to Akkad in some interview, the man-in-black was supposed to be Michael's brother.
Oh,and according to H7 and 8,4-6 didn't happen.
Another way to look at this series is kind of like those novels where you read a chapter and then have to choose the outcome, you can watch Halloween 1 & 2 and then decide if you want to follow the 'Thorn' story (4-6), or the 'Laurie' story (7&8).
The series is quite unique in that respect I think.
I also don't believe that you must forget Halloween 4 to follow the Laurie storyline. You can still watch Halloween 4, skip right to H20 and using your imagination can imagine that Laurie did have her daughter Jamie, but never mentions her for her protection. She may not be aware that Michael has already made an attempt on Jamie's life. As for Jamie thiking that her mother is dead, Laurie even states in H20 that she faked her death, so you can mix and match those two films I think to suit the Laurie storyline.
I remember being rather intrigued by the mysterious figure who broke Mike out of jail.
By the time the next sequel hit, I was beyond caring. (Does that specific character ever come back?)
Nothing like a good body count though!
