This is awesome news man, what on earth would they put on the THIRD disc with already so many features ??????????
Our friends over at the R-2 Project have been posting screen shots from the international version of the upcoming Black Hawk Down: Special Edition DVD. The international version is a 2-disc release with the following extras (this may not be a totally comprehensive list): anamorphic widescreen video (2.35:1), Digital Digital 5.1 sound, audio commentary with director Ridley Scott, audio commentary with author Mark Bowden & screenwriter Ken Nolan, audio commentary with some of the actual soldiers who participated in the real life events, The Essence of Combat: The Making of Black Hawk Down documentary, Designing Mogadishu featurette, production design archive, storyboards, Ridleygrams, Jerry Bruckheimer's BHD photo album, photo galleries, title design explorations, 6 deleted scenes plus a narrated opening and an alternate ending (with optional audio commentary by Ridley Scott), trailers and more.
Keep in mind that the U.S. release (expected early in 2003 from Columbia TriStar) will include ALL of the above, plus a THIRD disc of extras as well.

Aaah! I don't know what to do. I really want to own this flick but don't feel like picking up the single disk edition. Was going to wait for the Region 2 Special Edition but this Region 1 sounds very enticing and definately worth the wait.

Hell I will probably end up buying the single disk and give it to a relative as a XMAS present before this 3 disc set comes out.

The 3 disk version is also coming out in September in Holland. They are using the UK 2 disk SE which also has Dutch subtitles and then adding the 3rd disk. So in UK we only get 2 disk SE, but in mainland Europe, there is the choice of 1, 2 or 3 disk versions (3 disk is around USD5 more than 2 disk).

This 3rd disk is of documentaries on the war in Somalia, so whould expect National Geographic, or History ones ? like Pearl Harbour.

Sorry to bother the R1 only folks, but:
The reason I only posted the link to the Frech version, is that I read the Dutch version is canceled.
For people that can understand Dutch, check this press release: http://www.dvdinfo.be/nieuws.cfm?persnr=589
DvdZone2 is sometimes I bit late with these kinds of updates. I remember ordering the (canceled) Dutch 2-disc version of Apocalypse Now Redux from them.......

Yes! I can't wait. I recently picked up the 1-discer used, but it's great to hear more about the SE.

Great news...this was a movie I was interested in owning, but since I have yet to see it, I figured it would be best to wait til the SE came out to purchase it.

    Peter,

After seeing the Documentary, I had an all new appreciation for the film, and I loved it to begin with. Ridley and Co. did a good job of keeping the film very close to the actual events.

This is very tempting and I never double dip with films that are up to snuff audio/video wise. Sounds like a hell of a SE.

Many thanks Dean. I've been straddling the fence, but your analysis sways me in favor of viewing the film. Sounds very complementary to the doc, which is good since I wanted more.

About the doc - an incredible statement in camaraderie and courage.

    Take care...

This is one of the reasons why I waited. They practically said there was going to be a 3 disc set coming out. So why buy the bare-bones version with this coming out a few months down the line.

Columbia appears to be doing the same thing with Resident Evil & Panic Room.
