Jim Carrey is back in "Yes Man" where his down-on-his-luck character Carl gets a jolt of optimism and is empowered to literally say "Yes" to any and all offers or requests. Of course, funny hijinks ensue, but the plot meanders quite a bit, and the pitfalls and advantages of being a "Yes Man" are illustrated with short segments loosely tied together by a chance meeting between Carl and a free spirited lass, Alison, and their unlikely but blossoming romance.
I liked the chemistry between Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel, though the supporting cast is pretty average, with little to do but be plot devices for Carl's "Yes Man" adventures. There are some good laughs, just not big ones (well, maybe there is at least one, but it's better that you see it, than for me to ruin it, I suppose). So, overall a thoroughly average comedy, but it makes for a breezy matinee viewing if you're bored over the holidays.
I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.
