I can see them releasing a film every 12 - 18 months. They may have avoided this problem if instead of SOLO they released a film that people actually wanted to see.

Honestly, I don't think the mistake Disney made was in bringing Solo to the big screen. The problem was in trying to shoehorn it in to a busy summer schedule just five months after Last Jedi. I'm sure they were just trying to see if the market was there for SW two or even three times a year. But it didn't work. Solo was not a bad film. It wasn't a great film either, which we all know worked against it. But now that Disney realizes that SW works best as a once every year or once every eighteen months kind of event film, that's what they will do moving forward.

I may be in the minority here and I am ok with that but I have enjoyed the newer films. But make no mistake my all time favorites of the series is still the original theatrical Star Wars, Return Of The Jedi and then Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens, Rogue One, Revenge Of The Sith and yes The Last Jedi is in there. IMHO Lucas did things I thought hurt the franchise like Jarjar Binks, what in the heck. The prequaels where not a total loss because there are things to love even in them.

But seriously everyone what was this?
    Jar_Jar_aotc.

And yes I will be adding Solo on 4K blu-ray very soon and other Star Wars titles in 4K as they become available!

Heck take a look and tell me I am not buying, ROFL.

The original theatrical 1977 Star Wars on 4K blu-ray would be my holy grail and I would by more than 1 copy!

    Well that's upsetting news.

I wonder if Lucasfilm might give him a dedication card on Episode IX? It would be a nice thing to do.

That was so cool to see three of the original characters on stage and even Lucas. I still have a problem with how Lucas treats the original theatrical like a red headed step child!

Today the kids and I started "The 12 Days of Star Wars," which is similar to our MCU rewatch project from last year. We're watching: Episode I, II, the Clone Wars movie, the Clone Wars micro-series (which is 2 hours), Episode III, Solo, Rogue One, Episode IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII. We watched I today, and have 17 days to get through the rest. It's all in preparation for Episode IX.

I hadn't seen The Phantom Menace in a long time, probably since the blu-ray came out in 2011 (maybe once after that). I enjoyed it more than I have in a long time. It's still the weakest film, by far, but I found I really appreciated the film making behind it - the photography, the editing, the sound, the music, the costumes, the set design. Even its darkest scenes are bright by comparison to today's dark movies; that was refreshing. The weakest link is the script, which should have been so much better. Qui-Gon's supposed to be this noble character, and yet, his dying wish to Obi-Wan is to train Anakin, something the audience knows will turn out to be a disaster. In later films, the Jedi will say the prophecy was misread, which is another mark on Qui-Gon's character. Also, hadn't the Jedi been guardians for 25,000 years or so? Seems to me that people in power for that long aren't looking for balance. Were they asking for trouble? I won't even get into the mischaracterization of Anakin and Padme. The biggest problem is that you don't really care about the characters. You know who you're supposed to root for, based on the other movies, but that doesn't make this any more satisfying. And like Return of the Jedi, the final part of the movie is ruined by breaking the tension of the Jedi duel and the retaking of the palace with silly antics of the Gungans and a 10-year-old flying a fighter. The first chapter in the Star Wars movie series should have been much better.

Cool, I will do the same thing later this year. With the only exception that I won’t watch Clone Wars, because I just recently watched the whole show on Netflix.
Instead I’m gonna watch Rebels for the first time.

The Phantom Menace is the best looking of the prequel movies. It looks more real than the other two. Certainly because it has less green screen, more models.

If I'm not mistaking it was some time at that period that ILM closed and sold their miniature department which was a real shock to me.
