On the heals of Spiderman 2's lead, Shrek 2 is now opening on Wednesday, May 19th. Looks like studios want to tap in on that extended first opening weekend box office business.

Well, came back from a midnight showing. This film is funny!! There are funny action scenes from other movies such as Alien and FlashDance.(To name a few.)

You'll laugh at what they say, thier actions, and items/signs in the background.

Can't wait for the DVD.

Evelio,

I saw the movie at a private screening and I can say this movie has so much funny stuff in it that you MUST see this movie more than once just to get all the jokes.

G*d knows how how many movies they parodied in Shrek 2, to say the least.

And yes, I am definitely getting this movie on DVD so I can use the slo-mo on the DVD player to see it all. :D

What movie was the inspiration for when the big gingerbread man was doused with milk and was falling away as his arms broke off, and then the little gingebread man jumps off towards the big gingerboard man. That shot was so familiar, but I couldn't place the film.

Loved the "Shrek/Legolas flipping underneath the horse/donkey" shot, and many more homages.

Pus-n-Boots just flat out killed me.

I'd say this was significantly better than the first film, in just about every way. Still a bit too easily dated with their jokes, but a much better comedy.

I think I'll see it again, which I would never have expected I'd say after seeing the first one.

The Giant Gingerbread man I thought was a pretty obvious Stay Puft Marshmallow man from Ghostbusters
reference which I thought was fantastic. Puss n Boots from the trailer looked terrible but in the film he was fantastic, best part I thought. Really hated the end though where they all sing livin la vida loca, could they have picked a more out dated song

I thought the giant gingerbread man was more a parody of Mongo/Blazing Saddles just because of his name and mannerisms.

Plenty of parodies in the film. I loved it and caught or just maybe saw too much into a few: Blazing Saddles, LOTR, Flashdance, COPS, various Disney creations (as usual), Charlie's Angels, Mission Impossible, Sanford & Son, etcetera.

Probably a few more that I just can't think of right now. Puss in Boots stole the film for me. My favorite moment of his is on KNIGHTS when the catnip is found on him and he says "...that's not mine... "

:D

I just saw this movie last night in Seattle, and I think it is much better than the first. I really liked Puss n' Boots played by Antonio Banderas. My favorite scene is when Shrek and Donkey see him licking himself on the way into Far, Far Away. I also liked the Pinnochio part when Donkey tells him to tell a lie so his nose will grow to save them from the dungeon by saying he wears women's underwear. That part just made me laugh so hard.

The other parodies that I remember were from Lord of the Rings when Shrek has a gold ring made for Fiona where it goes up and falls on her finger.

I am really looking forward for this to come out on DVD perhaps in the fall or winter of this year.

No spoilers are needed for discussion the contents of this film.

The Knights spoof and Puss-n-boots getting busted for Catnip was hysterical. Sure, it's a throwaway bit, but for P-n-B, it just fit him to a T.

I keep reading how Puss-In-Boots steals the show. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one! :D
