The crazy thing is there supposedly there is a draft of this film where the 7 victims are from a space shuttle accident that was somehow caused by the Will Smith's character when he was working in aeronautics.

Now suddenly I'm interested.

Hey, if the plot turns out to be that Smith isn't being charitable at all, but rather is planning the murder of these people in order to get 7 lbs of new organs for himself, or to get their families insurance payoffs, maybe this won't be the saccharine-sweet film that the endless commercials are threatening! Or maybe he befriends people who need organs, learns their vital stats, and then tracks down and kills people who he knows will be their perfect donor matches. That would be interesting.

I think the lack of replies to this thread means either people are preparing for the holidays, or that this movie is going to bomb. Smith can usually do no wrong (I even liked Hancock) but the idea that a film about organ donors (at least that is what I think it is about, based on the title) is going to be a Christmas hit is wishful thinking.

One of the most pretentious "Please vote for me Academy!" movies since "Pay It Forward".

Just bad. The first 2/3 of the movie moves at a snails pace and makes little sense. There is a major twist/payoff in the last 1/3 of the film, but by that point, I didn't care enough for it to matter.

WOW! I loved this movie!

The slow pace was interesting and very much the kind of story i like to see unfold.

I have never been so emotionally touched as i was watching this movie.

Superb!

This is probably a film in which women will go to and they like Will Smith so I'm not ready to say this film is going to bomb quite yet. It might be slow out of the gate due to the weather, but it can still get some box office over the holidays.

I havent seen this but from the reviews it seems very "emotional" and so on. imdb reviews also seem to speak highly of it so it might be worth a watch

it was very slow and very predictable but it did pack an emotional wallop (judging by the numerous women I noticed reaching for their kleenex!)

BTW, what did the hockey coach receive? I missed that part.

Hi, I'm new to HTF. I was searching online for a discussion site for movies when I found this site. I had a disagreement with my brother about part of the movie. I'm not sure how you handle spoiler info. But I would like to know if Will Smith's brother in the movie received the rest of his lung. I seem to remember that the brother needed more than what Will was able to give early on. I will whiteout this part: Did the real Ben Thomas go along with giving the home to the mother and her 2 children? Since it was done in his name but illegally. Did Tim Thomas basically ransom his lung and ask his brother to go along with giving the house to the family?

Thank you Michael. I guess I assumed that since he gave her his card (Ben Thomas) that he used the same name on the contract. I remember seeing the paperwork but did not see the name on the document.
I'm also putting the spoiler wrap to the test here.

Ann, were'd you go?

anyway i just watched this yesterday and thought it was a great movie.
Sure it was a movie that takes advantage or manipulates your
emotions but that was fine by me.

I don't think there was any twist or surprise in what this mans intentions were.
right in te beginning of the movie when he calls in to 911 his own suicide
tells you right there what's to come.

Only thing that i missed was who all 7 poeple were.

brother
holly
emily
ezra
connie tepos(house)

2 that i can't remember

Did you see my post? The movie doesn't count the two kids - it counts the hockey coach and the kid who gets the bone marrow transplant...

I think you found a continuity goof. Perhaps we're supposed to believe that Connie's so happy she doesn't notice - or care - that the deed says "Tim", but I think the filmmakers just goofed. Good eye!

I've been to enough closings that I had no trouble accepting that the participants wouldn't notice the difference. Only the lawyers pay any attention, and that part was already covered.

Was the card ever visible? Did it say "Ben" or "Benjamin"? If the official names used were "Ben" and "Tim", the difference wouldn't immediately leap off the page.
