    There has been a lot of questions whether or not the Panasonic XP30 or XP50 play VCD and SVCD properly. If you own either a Panasonic XP30 or a XP50 dvd player, please go to the following links below and burn the VCD(with chapters),CVD,and SVCD(with chapters)samples from vcdhelp.com and report here on your findings. Please include type of media used, what burn speed used, and whether or not the subtitles and chapters were functional.

    I didn't even need to download the files. The first VCD I tried had the wrong aspect ratio (stretched horizontally, and edges cut off the screen), and came out black and white.

    Although I dont know a whole lot about the whole VCD/ SVCD, I do own an xp30 and just tested it.

    SVCD = Worked.
    VCD = Worked but looked like poo.
    CVD = No go.

    It worked on Verbatim media 80min CDR burned at 8x.(didnt want to push it, but havent tried higher yet)

    Hope this helps someone.
