Despite preorders being available, the Apple Store is not updated
to accept iPad 3 orders as of this posting.

Kind of makes sense not to have Siri.

Siri needs a constant connection to work. iPhones have that.

iPads do not. If you are in a situation where you have no WiFi
and no 3G/4G service initiated, Siri will not work.

The "much more memory then a PS3" is a bit misleading; I mean, you're talking about a disc with 30-45Gb of Data (see: Uncharted) ... I get what they mean, but it's not really apples/apples, but it's a great point of how far things have come in the years since, and how cutting edge they've come with texture capabilities.

True for a wifi iPad but a 4G iPad would have the same opportunities to be connected that an iPhone 4S would. Personally, I don't believe Siri is ready for a "wide" roll out just yet and that is why Apple is holding it back from other products. They are still getting the bugs out.

On another note...I wonder what the size difference between a 2hr 720P movie and 1080P movie will be? I would imagine downloading either over 3G/4G would take up a significant, if not all in the case of 1080P, of the plans data allotment.

P.S. And what is up with the name? We now have "iPad 2" and "The new iPad". Sorry, that seems dumb to me.

I won't camp out overnight at the local Apple store, but I will pick one up later this year, I think. Should extend the life of my MacBook Pro as I can reduce my non-work related usage of it by using the iPad instead.

Just talked to Apple rep. Store still down.

Expecting to be up within the hour.

Apple not taking preorders over the phone until website store is active.

Again, store not up yet for preorders.

3:20pm EST Update.

Just got through to Apple rep.

Store still not up. Apple employees have no ordering information so
you cannot order over phone or web.

Still expecting store to be up soon.

The store was up briefly within the last hour, but then it crashed when going to the shopping cart.
I think it is overwhelmed by demand.
(I'm in this for the Apple TV....can't afford the new iPad just yet.)
