The concept with the map on the back of historical documents is not the only complete absurdity. The action is overall boring and often fails to even be exhilirating, it just lays there.. the acting is terrible; This ranks amongst Cage's worst performance (yes, including films like ConAir).
I could go on a rant, but this is one of the more dissappointing films I've seen this year, because I thought, going into it, that it could be pretty entertaining. Boy was I wrong :frowning:
I saw it as well, but I enjoyed it... Like one review I read equated, it is the movie-version of Comfort Food... I thought it was fun, and I was entertained. Was I blown away? No. But I knew going into it that it would be fun... JMHO... It will be a good film to catch this weekend, better than the Bridget Jones one...
My friend who went with me was entertained, he said "yeah, it's fluff, but it's entertaining fluff"
I guess that's the best way to look at it. If you can put your brain on autopilot for a while, there are some cute segments, and it flows together, I guess my only advice would be to go in with low expectations, it might live up to them
I had been looking forward to this movie a long time and finally got to see it last night.
My only complaint about the movie... it ended! I love every moment of it and thought the story was very interesting. (Far fetched but very interesting and good)
I was much more entertained than I would've thought. The concept is absurd, but the movie delivered a solid adventure with fun and funny moments. I even liked the comic relief.
Oh goody! All I need is for a few of the rubber frog enthusiasts to condemn this kind of movie to make me want to see it. Sounds like this is a must-see!

National Treasure is silly, far-fetched and full of holes. I really enjoyed it though. Ship appearing in ice with name on a bell about a foot deep, 200 year old torches that light like they were new, and lots more. But it was a silly, entertaining, fun movie.
She was game for much of what they had to do, and they acknowledge her foreign accent. She even had a few good lines as I recall. The film isn't too pretentious or overly serious although it contains a good deal of information (a good deal of it factual), and she is able to bring that across well.
She did great in her role, didn't have any "Oh, I'm supposed to be a scientist" moments, which is nice. I always hate it when people have to play smart but aren't up to the task.
