I haven't seen the movie, but the review in the Little Rock paper was very positive. Apparently, Lasiter took over producing this movie, replaced the director and some of the animators. According to the review, it won't make you forget Pixar's best, but the story is involving and the 3D is good.

Also according to the review, the Hamster (voiced by an animator) steals the show.

I will probably see this film with my children. Once they found out that Miley Cyrus was doing some of the voice work (Penny), they were thrilled. I've also heard the duet sung by Cyrus and Travolta, entitled I Thought I Lost You. The Disney Channel showed a premiere for this film, which was introduced by Miley Cyrus, on Saturday evening, June 28, 2008.

The hamster does steal the show. We got to see some extended scenes at last years comic con in San Diego. He is freaking funny..... I want to see it just for his scenes. He is that funny....

Patrick Sun's review has convinced me to see this film which I'll do this weekend in 3D.

How is the 3-D? Is it just depth or do objects sometimes come out of the screen?

It's mainly depth, not a lot of flashy "look at this" 3D sequences, but involving, nonetheless.

The family and I went to go see it last night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole audience was laughing and there was actually some clapping at the end. It was probably a mix of about 10% kids and 90% adults.

And the 3D was incredible. It was nice not have 3D "in your face effects" all the time. Sure there were a few scenes but nothing like in "Journey to the Center of the Earth".

Rhino the Hampster really does steal the show.
Rhino: "Ring, Ring. Who's there? Destiny. I've been expecting your call".

The previews for this left me cold, and "Disney" lost all its cachet some years ago for animated movies. But EW's review was positive, and I wanted a light movie this afternoon so we saw Bolt today.

It was a good time. Thoroughly enjoyed it. There's nothing groundbreaking about it -- which as a recent noted may be the groundbreaking aspect, as we can now take for granted dust and smoke and fire and cityscapes and fur and humans and everything in a CG movie.

But it had a nice story, a mixture of the typical "hero lost" (Finding Nemo) and "identify lost" (Toy Story) stories. The sidekicks, Cat and Rhino, were always a positive, never detracting. The gag appearances -- Pigeons this time, taking the place of slugs from Flushed Away or Scrat from Ice Age -- were on screen enough to be hilarious, pitch perfect in their supporting role.

And it gives you a new appreciation for the power of Styrofoam.

Rhino was maybe one of the funniest characters I've ever seen on screen. Every time he opened his mouth I was laughing. I was thinking to myself, it would be freaking hilarious if he got so excited that he just blew up inside his ball and it filled with blood. I knew they wouldn't do anything like that, but that would be the logical next step of how pumped up he was. That would end it for me, I would have just peed my pants and walked out of the theater at that point.

Bolt: "there's a guard"
Rhino: "i'll snap his neck"

hahahaha
