With this list of nominees, I am farther away from the Academy than I have ever been in terms of my personal preferences. I have only seen four of the ten Best Picture nominees and I only think two of them deserve their spots.

My enthusiasm for watching the broadcast this year with these nominees is extremely low.

I have no interest in recent films or Oscars anymore since yeaaaars.
My only question about the nominations is this:
Is Flow such a good film that it has 2 Oscar nominations for best animation film and best international film?

By the way, I have seen only Conclave. I don't think I'll see anything else.

I have seen A Complete Unknown- that’s all. If The Substance gets released on disc, I’ll likely see that one too.

Yes! This is one of the very few things I was really happy about with this list. Animated films getting in where they don't normally -- also including The Wild Robot for sound.

The only Animated Feature nominee I have not seen is the new Wallace and Gromit. That is a really stacked category full of excellent work. I'm not sure what my vote would be if I had one.

I've only seen 2 of the BP noms, Wicked and Dune Part 2. I'm not sure Dune Part 2 deserves the spot, but I do think Wicked deserves the nomination. I thought Inside Out 2 might make the list of BP noms, it was the best movie I have seen this year (haven't seen many though).

Unfotunately, I don't think the Academy at large respects animation enough to do that. I love Inside Out 2 and I would have nominated it if I ran the awards. But if they didn't nominate the first one for Best Picture, which I think it deserved, they weren't going to do it here either. The fact that animated films have their own category allows the Academy to justify ignoring them elsewhere because they can just win at the proverbial "kids table" and not be considered with the "serious" films. I think this is absolutely wrong, but the Academy very much does seem to have this bias against the form. Only three animated films have ever been nominated for Best Picture -- Beauty and the Beast, Up and Toy Story 3 -- which just goes to show how rare it is.

I’ve seen 7/10 of the nominees. I’ll be seeing A Complete Unknown this weekend and will try to see Nickel Boys next week. I doubt I’ll see I’m Still
Here
before the Oscars.

Why?

It is expanding in February. I'm sure you'll have it in New York first.

I'm not pushing here -- as I said before, I gave up being an Oscar completist years ago -- but I know that you do try to see everything. So it seems odd for you not to see this one before the ceremony when it will certainly be available.

I didn’t know it was coming back into theaters so I guess I’ll see it. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think it was in theaters in the first place. I think Sony did an Academy-mandated qualifying run for it last year in however many places they were required to, but never planned to put it out in a substantial way until after nominations.

Why the sad emoji @Jake Lipson ?
Because I don't think that movie should have 13 nominations.
