I got to see the 4k SUSPIRIA on the big screen this past Saturday. It's not my favorite Argento movie but it looked and sounded awesome. The work that went into it was really amazing on the big screen and especially how crystal clear the audio was. If this is playing anywhere near you it's worth the trip.

Select theaters in the Regal chain are going to be playing Suspiria on Monday, October 2. I want to see it and there's a theater kind of near me but it's a hike.

At the risk of sounding like a commercial, Suspiria is part of 'HorrorFest 2017' at the Regal chain. They're also playing Fright Night, The Dead Zone & Pet Sematary (double feature), The Monster Squad, King Kong & Them (double feature), A Nightmare On Elm Street, Cat People (1982) & Videodrome (double feature), Jaws and it wraps up with The Shining. Thanks for the heads up on this! I will definitely see the King Kong/Them! double feature! Before the Time Theater in Milwaukee abruptly closed a few years ago, they had King Kong on the schedule. Alas, I never got to see it on the big screen. Until now!

For those in the St. Louis area, Webster University will be showing the 1920 John Barrymore Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde on October 20th. This screening will have live accompaniment by The Invincible Czars.

Good morning

I'm starting early, it's 10:40 in the morning and while I'm having breakfast I'll watch the first scary movie of this years competition:
The Thing From Another World (1951) on DVD.

1. Mad In Italy (2011). FTV. Watched on DVR. An Italian horror with a psycho keeping a woman chained in his apartment while he looks for a job and kills the odd person.

A slow burn with not much happening. He does make the girl model an intestine he pulled out of someone earlier that day. 5/10.

2. The Night Shift (2016). FTV. Watched on DVD. A security guard is brought in to watch a house during the night. He doesn't know he is really there to be sacrifice for some demons.

A real boring piece of crap. They throw in a sex scene to help things but it doesn't help things. Avoid. 2.5/10.
