I'm a fan of the movies (when are we going to get good copies?) and even remember the radio program (In fact our speech class did Henry Aldrich on the radio for a class project) but I don't remember ever seeing this TV show.

This is a real treat for all you Krutrøyk fans!

Lørdagskveld med Erik Bye (1970-1971)

Ken Curtis (Feb.27.1971) Full Version (NRK)

This Saturday night it is Ken Curtis, Festus from the TV series Krutrøyk, who is honored. He turns out to be a versatile man, both singer and actor. In addition, Erik Bye has a visit from two married couples Jota from trysil-traktene. They have been in prison and have a total of 16 children. Also, they are good at several instruments. (I used my translator to post this in English.)

I have very vague memories of seeing a few episodes of that one as a wee lad - likely sometime in the late 50s. Quite a few of the shows from that era were syndicated here until around ~1962 when movies and "newer" syndicated shows took over those slots. The main thing I remember is the mom calling "Heeenry! Heenry Aldrich!" and his "Coming mother!" during the open. I figure that was a hold over from the radio show (something I've never heard).

That was the standard opening line in both the radio and movies.

The movie series was actually quite fun but I'm pretty sure it's now in PD and won't be rescued.

ADDED: There are DVD copies of the movies available. The quality ranges from not too bad to terrible depending on the movie.

America! ‘The Tinsel Mecca’ (1963) (Unaired Pilot)

This is the un-aired pilot version that sold the show. John Guedel introduces Jack Douglas, who introduces the program. Contains great footage of Los Angeles in the early 1960s. At the end are "scenes from future shows", in which we see, among others, Arlene Dahl, Actress, Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959). (From YouTube)

Includes Disneyland, Wax Museum, Angel's Flight, Chinatown, Olvera Street, the beach, the Magic Castle, the Troubadour, and the Roaring 20's nitery, according to archivist's notes. The Tinsel Mecca focuses on the color and glamour of Hollywood. Attractions include Corriganville, a prop Western town used for movies and TV; Grauman's Chinese Theatre; an exhibit at Marineland of the Pacific; Forest Lawn Memorial Park; and the Academy of Magical Arts"--TV Guide, September 8, 1964 (From archive.org)

Hey Neal - ya got me good on this one. Thanks. There is a clip of the Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle) in Hollywood. I've been there several times. In the clip there is a brief glimpse of guy doing a strange table spread of playing cards. That guy was Jerry Andrus a wonderfully creative (and strange) guy and magician. He stayed at my home in the 1970's. He was well known for his interest in optical illusions and even had some in his yard. Here is a clip
