This the first program I remember watching on a TV
EDIT - I should add - several of these are available on DVD

And I watched it on a giant screen. 17 inches of wonder. We had the biggest screen in the neighborhood.

The Decades network has been running this during their weekend binge. It's a great show that I want to see released on DVD.

This show is fantastic. I had a grey market set, a legitimate release would be great. Unfortunately for me, Decades is the one classic oriented channel unavailable here over both broadcast and cable.

Same with me regarding the Decades channel, as far as I know my cable service doesn't offer it. The main two retro channels that I receive are MeTV and Antenna TV, along with a few other lesser retro channels. I don't watch the retro channels too often because I have DVD's of most of my favorite old shows and I usually watch the DVD's.

If either of you are in the US and you have an antenna Decades should be in your DMA. Check here. Over 2 years ago CBS dropped them in favor of StartTV. Here in NY it took about a year for the local FOX affiliate to carry it OTA, but it's still not on my cable system nor Dish.

Martin Kane Private Eye
An early detective series starting in 1949. This came from radio as did so many of the programs from vintage TV. In fact it ran during the same years as the radio program. This was not uncommon in the early 50's. Jack Benny used to plug his radio program on his TV program and visa versa.
The Martin Kane even plays as though it was on the radio.

Boston Blackie
And while I'm talking detectives I'll put in my early favorite. Loved these as a kid. These are available but restored copies would be so nice. I didn't learn about the BB movies (there was another BB beside Kent Taylor ?) until I was about 13 when during the summer a local station ran them on the late late movie.

Before I started reading and then joining this forum I thought I knew a lot about classic tv and movies. Now I realize I didn't, but thanks to you all I'm learning lots of good stuff!
Neal - if you like the mystery movie series I started a thread a couple of years ago on 30's and 40's mystery series. I did a brief review on all of them. The thread is not active now but from time to time I add a little to it.

EDIT - I might have more old tv knowledge than some others just because I'm older. :emoji_older_man:

Thank you Marv. 47 pages over 4 years, impressive!! I'll check it out. I don't know if I like or dislike movie mysteries as I've never really watched them, mostly because there's SO MUCH TELEVISION and so little time :)
