Those of you who purchased Paramount's release of "The Nutty Professor" in 2000, you may retire it!
The flagship title of next Tuesday's 10 DVD Jerry Lews catalog onslaught is a keeper.
Haven't had a chance to directly compare the old and new releases just yet, but the re-release looks much more colorful to these eyes.
Special features live up to the title: Special.
Jerry fans are gonna love the 15 minute featurette that goes into the making of the film and why Paramount was kinda' nervous about it, amongst many other details.
Even better than that? A 30 minute documentary covering most of Jer's films for the company, including letterboxed clips from many of the movies coming next week. "Delicate Deliquent" looks immaculate, "Cinderfella" looks gorgeous (I've never seen this one by the way) and "The Bellboy" looks like it was just printed yesterday.
Commentary wise, I've only had a chance to sample about five minutes...but after a slow start, Jerry gets egged on by longtime pal Steve Lawrence and Lewis starts yammering away, so it appears promising.
All this and a bunch of deleted scenes, wardrobe tests and (hold your breath) a trailer (on a Paramount catalog title...wow.....).
Be looking for the full length review along with all of the remaining JL titles from my fellow movie fanatics at digitallyOBSESSED(!) beginning next Monday.
Sorry to take up space, but like King Ron here at the Forum, I am a HUGE fan and I couldn't resist sharing my excitement over what is gonna be a wonderful day for the faithful...it has been a long time coming....
