With the occasional thread asking about the DVD release date, I was inspired to pull my numbered box out. I was enjoying this LD this past weekend and while watching, it occurred to me I have a fairly low numbered box, 124 out of 2500. What number, for those who have it, do you have?

Now I wonder if the commentary track contained on the LD with Nicolas Meyer and Robert Wise as well as the supplements will be ported to the DVD or will it be all new.

One can hope, Nelson. Fox is promising us a special edition, and when that studio does something special, it really is! I can hardly wait for the release.

I'm happy to see a studio being so respectful of their older films, especially ones that rank high in the eyes of the viewing public. I sincerely hope that Fox continues this trend with their upcoming line of classics.:D

Jack-

Thanks, I'm sure they'll do a fine job on this disc too.

Wow, number 2, they must have released the lower numbers on the East Coast first..

Mine is 1884 - nothing special. I've owned three of these sets, but I don't recall the numbers for the two I sold.

My copy of TDTESS is 2175. Great movie, fascinating documentary, a book about Robert Wise and his film career and a CD with Bernard Herrman's music and to top it off, signed by Robert Wise himself. One of the finest LD box sets ever produced. -Mike

Put me down as number 1214!

I've read that Robert Wise has recorded a brand new commentary track for the DVD, so the one on the laserdisc may end up being exclusive to the box set.

I'm curious (hoping not to sound nieve), how does having a low number on a limited edition increase the value of a LD or DVD?

I hate waiting for this on DVD. I love this movie. If only Patricia Neal was that young today.... Klaatu! Nikto! Barrada! :alien:

I had set # 47 that I sold last December on Ebay. It had never been opened and I was able to get what I originally paid for it so while it hass held it's value it doesn't seem to have gone up any.
