If you take out the line doubler on a 4:3 HDTV ready TV and watch a NTSC broadcast, will the picture look any better than if you watched it on a same size NTSC 4:3 set?

I am not planing to buy the decoder anytime soon. so i was wondering if I would get a better NTSC picture on an HDTV ready 51" rear-projection.

If you have a good cable source or any other signal source, an ntsc signal will look better on an hd ready set thru the doubler..You can not by pass the doubler on an hd ready set unless it is receiveing a progressive or hd signal, than the doubler is automatically by passed...

If the signal source is poor such of that of many analog cable sourses than the doubler in the hdtv set will magnify the vidio noise associated with a poor signal source...
