The usual warning:
(Sega fans with weak stomachs don't look) :frowning:
In related news, Sony is claiming to have sold 8 million PS2s between November and December. (lost the link...I'll post it in a bit)
Here's the chart in HTML format:

Dan, I posted that Sony story in the hardware section in the Xbox Vs PS2 online thread. Massive success for Sony.
Sega fans with weak stomachs don't look
We've gotten used to it but man some of this is depressing.
In general some things that stick out:
SLY COOPER & THIEVIUS 78,902
Disappointing and I thought the game deserved more. Christmas numbers are not in however so maybe the numbers have gone up substantially.
Ratchet and Clank 111,997
Nice! Good numbers for Sony. Still have to pick this one up and I plan to very soon.
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance PS2: 202,592
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Xbox: 104,155
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance GC: 38,169
Medal of Honor Frontlines PS2: 1,294,691
Medal of Honor Frontlines Xbox: 96,885
Medal of Honor Frontlines GC: 34,864
Timesplitters PS2: 101,422
Timesplitters Xbox: 91,583
Timesplitters GC: 63,546
Interesting to see the comparisons between these games. I'm suprised to see MK to do badly on the Gamecube. Considering the lack of fighters on the system I was sure it would do nicely. Medal of Honor of course it OWNED by the PS2. (Of course it had several months lead). Timesplitters numbers are very close across the board.
On the plus side for the Cube third party big picture:
RESIDENT EVIL ZERO 113,301
HARRY POTTER: CHAMBER 83,998
Some good news for the Xbox on that front:
T.CLANCY'S SPLINTER 223,879
T.CLANCYS GHOST RECON 115,330
UNREAL CHAMPIONSHIP 110,970
Some great sales on the Xbox Live launch titles on the third party end.
Some first party highlights for Nintendo:
Metroid Prime 363,389
MARIO PARTY 4 264,689
SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE 815,294
For Microsoft:
MECH ASSAULT 118,475
HALO 1,622,458 (99k that month)
Halo is still kicking and kicking strong.
Some really nasty nasty stuff:
HOUSE OF THE DEAD III 31,438
ToeJam and Earl III 24,050
Both of those are just painful. Very very painful.
On Sega good front:
Shinobi 82,386 (released in November)
Sonic Mega Collection 49,883 (not great but if they can break 100k on this one I think it will have been worth the release)
Some of the Sega numbers are really depressing. I am looking forward to seeing how PDO does (or not:frowning:). Interesting list nonetheless. Thank you Dan for posting it!

I didn't know those Sony numbers were posted because I quit reading that thread a while ago. ;)
Speaking of Splinter Cell, Ubi Soft is claiming to have sold 1.6 million copies worldwide so far! It's gonna end up with big numbers across all platforms, I think.
Shinobi has been advertised pretty heavily, I don't know if that's a big reason for it's success or not...there's been a pretty positive reaction to Panzer's commercial so far (based on what I'm reading on message boards on the 'net), let's hope they keep running it for more than a couple of weeks. :emoji_thumbsup:

Hmm, a 60,000 unit gap between the Gamecube and Xbox versions of some 3rd party games. And people on other message boards wonder why there's a rumor that 3rd parties will start cancelling GC ports in droves.

Some more stats:

Total game sales for Nov (share %) [ave unit $]:

PS2: 8,801,226 (54%) [$39]
PSX: 2,791,790 (17%) [$17]
Xbox: 2,379,318 (15%) [$44]
GC: 2,157,160 (13%) [$45]
N64: 83,922 (1%) [$21]
DC: 41,698 (0%) [$12]

Yes, that's right, kids: almost $350million of PS2 games, and roughly
$100million of Xbox and GC games.

In the top 10 all time best sellers chart on each format, the
significant changes are:

o GTA:VC storms up from 8th to take second spot from Gran Turismo 3,
so GTA has the top two spots!
o MGS2 gets pushed down to 6th from 3rd by the two Maddens.
o Each one of the PS2 top 10 have now sold more than 1 million.
o Super Mario Sunshine moves up one place to 2nd, displacing Luigi's
Mansion.
o Xbox and GC still only have one million seller each (Halo and Super
Smash Brothers Melee), but the GC has a couple of others that are
close (on 800k).

One more point; the TRSTS data only represent something like 60%* of actual sales. Certain stores are not included.

*just an estimate, if anyone has the answer, please let me know.

Yup, no real Walmart figures, but NPD claim to "scale" their stats to account for Walmart sales, whatever that means.

Xbox and GC still only have one million seller each
Someone else earlier asked on another thread in this forum whether or not the software titles, JSRF and Sega GT, bundled with the XBox hardware system counted toward software sales. I do not remember seeing an answer to this.

I wouldn't expect so, Steve, and I know in the UK they certainly don't. Basically, as "pack ins", they're not scanned seperately so don't get included in these charts.

However, if a retailer throws in a game, that game may get scanned into their system as a sale. Just depends. You'll notice JSRF+SegaGT is a "special edition" & not two regular games bundled. That make sense?

This is a great spreadsheet, thanks for posting it, Dan.

My only question: can they find the only guy that bought
"GUNDAM SIDE STORY 0079" on the DC in November? I can't believe they track down to one person purchasing a game. I hope he's enjoying it.

Also, is there any way of tracking the games sold on eBay or other secondary markets? I know these are near impossible to compile, but it would be interesting to see the most frequently re-sold games.

A very telling statistic Brian. You know Xbox and Gamecube fans spend so much time arguing and fighting with one another. They have yet to realize they are on the same boat;) (ie..beneath the boot heel of the sales juggernaut that is Sony).

Aw, I can't let a grown man cry!
Kelley, I bought World Series Baseball, NFL2K3, JSRF (not bundled) and NBA2K2 (later traded it in.) That's 4 out of 11 XBox titles that I've owned.
I am pretty sure I'll break down and buy Panzer Dragoon Orta. There you go. ;)
I'm a little disheartened by DanB's last sales data post. EA makes the most money of all the game publishers, yet I don't view them among the upper echelon companies. Aside from having Madden 2002 briefly, I don't own any EA titles.
