I just spent the last 2 or 3 hours compiling information on many of the June 7th titles in the hopes that it will help some people decide which sets to pick up tomorrow:

    http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3502

Each title will include the number of episodes, discs, the total length (reported by the studio), suggested retail price, cost per episode, and the cost per minute. The titles are ranked by cost per minute, with the cheaper sets at the top.

You'll notice some sets appear to be great deals (Wanted: Dead or Alive Season 1 - $1.11/episode, or 3.96¢/min) while others are a tad expensive.

damn Gord, you've really outdone yourself.

But now you've set a precedent and will have to do this every week from now on [IMG] j/k

Geez, I'm getting alot of stuff tomorrow (The Dead Zone, Dragnet, The Sopranos, Wanted: Dead Or Alive, The X-Files) but I didn't realize just how much other stuff is coming out too.

    Great list!

I actually meant to get it done late last week, but other things came up and I didn't have a chance to get it done. I thought people would like the cost/min thing; it showcases which sets are darn expensive, and which are deals.

Maybe this type of good consumer information will make those studios that are releasing "over priced" sets reconsider their selling prices, at least in the future. Thanks for all of your many efforts!

I am getting the Sopranos, Father of the Pride ,Wonder Woman and Lois & Clark.

For the Sopranos I am getting all 5 seasons at Best Buy for $290. They have a deal if you buy all 5 sets you get $100 off. Seasons 1-4 $79.99 & Season 5 $69.99 for a total of $389.95-$100 off=289.95. That is a really good deal for the Sopranos.

    That's a BIG 10-4 [IMG]

    Let's see....how about a series called

"Gord and Dave..the Dynamic Duo" [IMG]

As for June 7th...I think I'll have to get more than Lois and Clark...talk about TV/DVD "hitting the beaches"!

There is quite a bit! Wonder Woman Season 3, The Best of Tokyo Pig, and Frasier: Season 5 are must-buys for sure, with the released-last-week Andy Griffith Season 2 and Batman: The Animated Series Volume 3 also becoming quite pressing. [IMG]

Once again, kudos to you, Gord, this site is certaintly one of my favorites and your hard work and detication to TV-on-DVD certaintly shows. [IMG]

These shows will be available in about 9 hours or so at local retail. My shopping list for this morning is:

    Dragnet 1967 - S1
Father of the Pride - Series
    Home Improvement - S2
    Lois & Clark - S1
    MacGyver - S2
    Quincy M.E. - S1-2
Rescue Me - S1?? (Would be a blind buy)
Wonder Woman - S3 (Completes the series)

Whew!! That's a lotta TV to watch. Its weeks like this that make me realize there is NO possible way to comptete in the Challenge to watch ALL of my TV DVD's in a year, I can't keep up with all the new stuff that is coming out!
