See the following link for a fascinating and positive update on Super Audio's increasing traction from the AES 2002 convention with David Kawakami's commentary...

The news is very good along a number of fronts:
    1. More major Japanese brand SACD players coming.
    2. More exciting titles including large pipeline from Universal.
    3. Developing pro market tools and Meitner ADC popularity.
    4. Large number of titles in pipeline for 2003
    5. Six Blue Note titles including Norah Jones. Paging Mike Broadman. There have been rumors for a while, but David K. has confirmed it.
Plus, we have some classic Verve jazz titles, and a boatload of APO classics upcoming
2003 is shaping up to be a great year for Super Audio!

Lee, I think you missed the most important piece of news from that link: Sony is planning to begin pressing hybrids.

I wonder what those Blue Note titles are...

I am hearing rumors that Blue Note will be reissuing more classic titles like RVG series on SACD.

I am trying to confirm this with the label. The first six are more popular in orientation but this should change.

If these Blue Note SACDs are released, will they use RVG's 24-bit remixes? I greatly preferred Classic Records' 24/96 version of Cannonball Adderley's "Somethin' Else" over the RVG Edition CD.

The mix makes a difference, not just the format!

Murray Perahia has two excellent SACDs out already: Bach's Godlberg Variations and 4 Mozart keyboard concertos. While his interpretations can verge on the border of romanticism for those pieces (I enjoy a quite stringent approach to material of that era), his style fit very well with Chopin.
Whether Sony is doing this on purpose or not, these SACDs are serving as a nice marketing tool. As someone who doesn't follow current classical performers as much as he should, I had never heard of him before seeing the SACDs.
Hillary Hahn is talented but young, and she sounds it. I do enjoy her SACD of Brahms and Stravinsky concertos and will get the new one.
You all can keep the rest. [IMG]
