I want a 60x80 projection on my wall; I remember my friends old projector needed a certain distance to make that happen. Is it possible for a projector to do that image at a closer range?

I want a big picture at short range, is that possible?

Yes it is possible. Different models have different lenses and required distances. Some models of projectors also have replaceable lenses that can be swapped out with a special lens for either close up or far away applications. Seems there are also adapter lenses that attach to the projectors current lense to change the required distance, but I've never used one of these. Another method I've seen used is a mirror, but probably not well suited to your application (Often used when projecting onto the back side of a screen where the projector is inside a little room behind the screen). When I had my setup I had my ptojector inside a closet behind the back wall of the theater room, and this gave a a little more distance. (I had a 156" screen)
