Been a fan of audio equipment for years, but just now getting back into the swing of things.

My question is: I have a DVD[Cars - animated movie] that won't play in Dolby Digital. I am using an Onkyo DD reciever and a Sony DD DVD player. All other DD discs work fine, but this one disc will only play in Pro LogicII. The receiver even indicates via it's display that the DD signal is present.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If the receiver shows DD, then that is the signal it is receiving. What makes you think that it only plays in DPLII?

The large display reads "DVD PLII", yet the small red "Dolby Digital" symbol is lit above it[indicating the prescence of the DD signal]. Normally[other movies] the large display will read "DVD Dolby D". I've tried with all my settings to get it to switch to the DD, but it will only toggle between stereo and PLII. :frowning:

Again, this is only on that one movie.

The default sound on the Cars DVD is Dolby Digital 2.0.

You have to go to the setup menu on the DVD and choose 5.1.

Try that and see if it works.

That's good to know but it is a stupid move by Pixar/Disney. I have never watched the DVD because I have the HD version stored on my DVR.
