noisy subwoofer (1 Viewer)

i have an M&K, MX-70 subwoofer,and have been having some problems with, it makes noise through it ever while unplugged (RCA cables) so i know it's not coming from receiver. found the problem but dont know what to do about it's.. the min/max knob on the back.. if you just tap it while the woofer is making the noise it stop's. The subwoofer work very good..but after shutting down system it makes the low woofer noise and i have to tap knob for it to stop.. is my subwoofer on it's way out or is there a fix

Min/Max, I would guess this is the volume control?

Take it to an electronics repair shop and have them replace the volume pot. The pot is like a $1.00 part.

well min/max is the bass level, so the guess it would be the same as the volume control

would a can of electrical cleaner, spraying it in the min/max knob work?

Sure sounds like your volume control. Giving it a spray of electrical cleaner couldn't hurt. Give it a shot

That sounds like a good approach and replacement of the knob, possibly by yourself, is likely to be pretty inexpensive to investigate.
