    Hey Guys

My speakers are edmitting a very low noise from them, it sounds like a hum and a bit of static. What can it be?

I can't hear it unless I go up real close and put my ear to them.

    Thanks in advance.

It is not at all uncommon to be able to hear a little noise from your speakers if you put your ear right up against them. If you can't hear it from a foot away, I wouldn't worry about it.

What receiver/amp are you using? If it is humming on a high end piece of equipment it would be strange. Though it is not uncommon for there to be a constant hiss or fuzz as some would say. Humming could be a sign of a bad power supply or ac pollution.

OK so you have Rotel. I have a Rotel pre/pro that creates a hiss or fuzz no humming. Do you use a power conditioner? I wouldn't expect any problems with the Rotel stuff, they are pretty solid (though I could be mistaken about this whole thing and everything is just fine)

Can this noice harm my speakers?

I have noticed this noice on my last speakers as well. The noice goes away when i turn the amp of.

I have a Hk 520 and the Rotel RMB 1070 and I due have a monster power center signature series 5100.

Noise that you can only hear from an inch away will not hurt your speakers.

Try taking the Monster out of the system. Sometimes power conditioners can make things worse, just depends on how good you ac line performance.

And like everyone else said, it shouldn't hurt your speakers or anything for that matter.
