I have both a Sony Blu-Ray player and Bell ExpressVu receiver connected via HDMI cables into the Sony Receiver (into the "BD" and "SAT" In ports respectively) and then have one HDMI cable from the OUT port on the Sony Receiver to the TV. However, I have no sound when playing either the Blu-Ray or Bell.

I was (and still do when connecting it this way) get sound when using the HDMI cable from the Bell Receiver directly to the TV. However not now that I'm going through the Sony Receiver as a middle-man.

I now have the speaker system set up and get sound that way just fine. However, could somebody experienced with Sony Receivers please help me get sound from the TV? I can't believe it can't be done... Can it?

Thanks very much in advance!

Try the "Audio Out" setting on the HDMI menu. There are two possible values: "AMP" and "TV+AMP." The "AMP" setting will not pass audio through to the display device while the "TV+AMP" setting will. If you want to hear only the TV, you might try setting it to "TV+AMP" and then muting the AVR.

Frankly, since I don't like to have my AVR on all the time, I have my DBS box hooked up to component 1 and analog sound in addition to HDMI.

Hey Michael.

Thanks very much for your reply post.

I dug through the menu (no on-screen interface, just through the receiver display itself) and eventually came to where I could change the setting you indicated. And IT WORKS!

Thanks again for your help. I guess my buddy who came to help set it up (who has more experience with receivers over the years) didn't find what we needed.

Case closed!
