i have a 4:3 front projector and I can stretch the image to 16:9.

can I get 1080i thru s-video

i want the widescreen tv signal especially since college baskettball and nfl are on now. but no HDTV, can I still get it converted to an interlaced signal and watch it?

Most HD receivers will do this. Simply tune the receiver to the HD channel and select the 480i (S-Video or composite) output and you get the 16:9 telecast frame.

However this will not be 1080i. It will be 480i.

Only you can decide it this is worth the cost.

Don’t forget that when you blow up the 480i on a projector, it will still be 480i.

To be sure, the digital channels have very much better pictures even in 480i than do the SD channels, so your picture might be OK for your needs.
