No EQ on Stdre 845 (1 Viewer)

I have an older Sony 845 and I just purchased the new Pioneer DV-45A so I could listen to both SACD and DVD-A. I noticed that in the 5.1 input mode I cannot use the Sony EQ controls. I know about bass management, or I thought I did. Is having the signal pass straight thru the reciever to the amp normal? Or maybe I was at lunch the day they talked about bass management.

There are typically few or no adjustments for multi-channel inputs, as the processing is managed by the source.
