I am using a Denon 3800 with a B&K 50 and I don't have any bass signal with DVD Audio enabled.

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

What are your speakers set to on the Denon 3800? small/large?
What about the speaker setting of the Ref50?.

I take it you did set the 3800 & Ref50 to "yes have sub?"

Do you have sub output with a dvd using a digital out with a dvd?

B&K menu - speakers are set to:
Front - Small THX
Center - Small THX
Surround - Small THX
Side - None
Sub - Yes THX
THX Ult2 - Yes THX

Denon DVD 3800 Audio settings:
Audio Channel - Multi Enabled (Multi or 2 Channel)
Digital Out - Normal Enabled (Normal or PCM)
Bass Enhancer 2 channel - OFF (OFF or ON)

I have both optical and DVD-A interconnects hooked up to the B&K 50. I have no bass signal when I play a DTS or DD5.1 DVD. When I change the sound field to THX Ultra, DD, DTS, Stereo, Mono etc.. the bass kicks in instantly. As soon as I enable DVD Audio the bass signal shuts off. The bass indictaor light shuts off the second I enable DVDA sound on my Bass (Crown K1)amp.
