I bought my DVD of Ninotchka at a DVD store and noticed that it only contained a thetrical trailer as a bonus feature!!! Then I learned it it was supposed to have included a documentary about Garbo narrated by Joan Crawford. Did Warner drop this doc or there some problem with the DVD?

I doubt there could be a documentary narrated by Joan Crawford, since Joan died in 1977 (unless it's something very old).

There is a documentary on the Grand Hotel disk, newly-made, called Checking Out Grand Hotel.

There were documentaries on movie stars made before the age of DVD. For instance, there's a 1975 special on Clark Gable hosted by Peter Lawford inside the Gone with the Wind disc. I heard that the Joan Crawford-hosted one was supposed to be in one of the Garbo discs. Hope they didn't take it out.

The official R1 specs for Ninotchka are:

    DVD Special Features include:
1967 BBC Show Garbo – hosted by Joan Crawford
Theatrical Trailer of this Film and Its Musical Remake Silk Stockings
    Subtitles: English, French & Spanish

You didn't buy from a Canadian etailer did you? Could be Canadian versions - has as happened previously - are slightly different due to rights issues.

You know, I'm glad somebody else mentioned this. I decided not to get the Garbo boxset...instead I figured I would probably just buy Ninotchka. The other day I was rooting around Borders and picked up the dvd, noticing that the Crawford biography wasn't listed. I put it back, deciding I would pick it up somewhere else, but I remembered thinking the exclusion was odd. Is the stand alone different than the boxset version? If not, then it was dropped.

I bought my boxset through Amazon USA, not Canada, and mine does not have the Documentary either. I think it was dropped.

I got it from DVD Pacific. I emailed them about the missing documentary but received a totally unhelpful reply suggesting I buy it again on the off chance that it might be on the second one! I've also emailed Warner, as it is still listed on their site as being included. They have not yet responded.

Has anyone found out yet whether it is meant to be there?

they dropped the documentary because they couldn't get the rights to the interview cleared, so it's not on there for legal purposes. hopefully they release another garbo set with her remaining movies and are able to clear things up.
