Are there any plans for a new version of the original NotlD? The Elite Millenium Edition does have some nice extras but the transfer is really showing it's age. And I believe Anchor Bay now completely controls the rights to the "authoritive version".

I'm quite pleased with the Millennium Edition. How much better could it possibly be? I suppose just the film on disc one and any extras on the second disc, but it's really not bad. Being the sucker I am though, I would probably cave in. Sheesh. :D

How is the transfer showing it's age? It looks great for a low budget movie made in the 60's.

HD would be the next dip if I were to re-purchase NOTLD, the Millennium Edition looks fine for the time being IMO.

It's a non-progressive port of a laserdisc from 12 years ago loaded with aliasing and rainbows. Plus the THX optimiser makes the mpeg artifacts even MORE noticible!

A new Divimax version would be nice, but only if it's the original version. Do keep in mind, though, that NotLD exists only as a duplicate negative, so it can only look good to a point.

I kinda' agree. Not a terrible transfer, but it's old and could be better. Plus it'd be nice if they'd fix the "freeze-frames" at the end of some shots in the opening scenes.

Oh most deffinetly! The fans would storm the castle if AB dared to regurgitate the 30th Anniversary Edition.

I recently watched this on my video projector with my DVD player set to progressive-scan output. Said DVD player DOES NOT handle incorrectly-flagged DVDs well at all when playing back in "Film" progressive mode, but Elite's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD Millenium Edition played just fine. It IS flagged for progressive and plays back fine that way.

That being said, I agree that a new, HD-telecine would make for a better looking DVD in this day and age, but equally agree that at this point in the game, we might as well wait for a true HD release. Didn't this actually play on the HD Monsters network, in fact?

Where did you hear this? When Elite did their transfer, they went back to the ORIGINAL negative and made a new intermediate film element to make their transfer from.
