I won't be needing this because there's no new bonus material, plus Season 1 despite being released in 2004 was released on single-sided discs so it isn't in need of upgrading like many other Universal S1 titles released on DVD-18s.

I was wondering about that in another thread.

I just assumed S1 was flippers because of when it was released, which would indeed have been a reason to upgrade.

But since they were all released single sided in the first place, all the new repackaging has going for it is a much cooler cover than the season releases.

And, of course, a good price point for people who haven't bought the individual seasons yet.

So, call me when Mill Creek gets their hands on it for the Blus.

Great news for me, thanks for the info, Sean! I have previously not bought the single season releases, it will be great to get Night Gallery in a complete series release at a much reduced price...I recently picked up the newly released complete series of Streets of San Francisco and Vega$...finally able to capitalize on CBS/P's complete series craze...other Universal and CBS series I dutifully and at much greater cost, bought every single season or half season volumes as they were released over many years...Gunsmoke, Rawhide, HGWT, Wild Wild West, Combat! (image licensed from CBS) Mannix, Perry Mason, Bonanza, Beverly Hillbillies (of course incomplete), Gomer Pyle, Hogan's Heroes, Andy Griffith Show etc...Rockford Files from Universal, and got The Fugitive Most Wanted edition, TZ and Dick Van Dyke Show on Blu (Image) all at undiscounted prices...but in the end, not sorry at all to pay the higher prices, as I've had many years of enjoyment...

I can confirm that all of the the bonus features on the complete series release were ported over from the seasons 2 and 3 individual releases. So if you already own the all three individual season sets there is no reason to buy the complete series since there is nothing new in it.

Gooooood E-v-e-n-i-n-g!!!!!

This is apparently a more efficient repackaging of what already is (a standard or by now well-familiar practice that has been done many time before) with (presumably) a better asking price tag affixed to it and for those who haven't availed themselves of this tv series it is certainly a beneficence.

Others who wish to acquire a "second" back-up set can also take advantage of the opportunity. I'm not surprised that this was done but that it took Universal so long to do it.

As I have already discussed at least once before (likely more-than-once) it would be great if Universal would mint single-sided DVDs for the first season (1955-56) of its (disastrous) ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS (CBS 1955-61, NBC 1961-62) release to replace the problematic double-sided discs in this specific set:

Maybe Universal (surreptitiously without any public notification) already has and we just don't know about it!

Admittedly this is wishful thinking.

Just as germane. How about a season seven (1961-62) release to wrap things up at long last?!

I know this will probably sound crazy to most, but I almost wish that Universal would have included the re-edited half hour syndication versions as bonus, similar to how Time Life included the re-edited Six Million Dollar Man pilot movies on their complete series set. While it's true that most of the segments got horribly butchered, several of the segments actually had deleted scenes added back into the episodes in order to pad out the run times.

I completely agree. The syndicated versions are obviously ill-advised abominations, but I'd still like to see them. I remember marveling at the ridiculous butchering of some episodes described in the multi-part episode guide in Twilight Zone Magazine...

Was Gary Collins the star of The Sixth Sense? I think I saw one of those Night Gallery reruns with him on SciFi Channel back in the 90's. Looked like a decent enough show.

Wish it was on blu-ray. Night Gallery is long overdue for a proper HD remaster.

For a long time, MeTV was showing a couple of episodes a night. I always got a kick out of seeing Mark Hamill in a bit part as a delivery boy in "there aren't any more MacBanes.

There's a European release of the full Sixth Sense series, though I don't think it includes the pilot (which had former radio newsman Alex Dreier as the lead rather than Collins). The versions shown as part of Night Gallery were all cut down to less than half their original length so really don't represent the show as its best. It wasn't a great show but I have a soft spot for it.
