I have been looking for active studio monitors as computer speakers. I am interested in the NHTPro M-00. The alternative is an Event TRXL, which is bi-amplified. In contrast, the M-00 is not. NHT explains this decision thusly:

I am not sure that this response answers the question. Can someone help me unpack its meaning? Why doesn't NHT favor bi-amplification for such applications?

In then end, it really doesn't matter, so long as the design is executed well. The resulting integration due to the crossover is much more important than the method by which it is executed. In the live sound reinforcement market, where active systems are the norm, we are regarded as one of the best in terms of sound quality, yet almost all of our products are passive. If you need it louder, just use a bigger amp.
