but if you will compare this and bluray version, bluray has cropped up and down picture. I dunno why but just look at this: as i can see this on youtube:

so i dunno if the bluray is really worth and better.the quality is good of course but cropped? even baby bear has cropped left leg on this picture just like upper helicopter
The framing on the blu ray is great. You can see the extra intended information on the sides like Mr. Rangers hand. The blu ray isn't cropped its correctly framed. The boomerang version is zoomed in and cropped on the sides. The information on the bottom is unimportant and was not intended to be seen. Just because we are used to seeing a full frame and zoomed in version on tv doesn't mean its correct or the way its supposed to be seen. To me the boomerang version looks way too cramped with no room for the picture to breath. The blu ray looks natural.

I didn't notice this before but two years ago it seems they streamed all ten seasons of Superfriends on HBOMax all in HD. The prints look remastered. They have clips of them on You Tube (the 1973 first season). They took them off streaming later though.
Does anyone think they might be putting the whole Superfriends series on Bluray anytime soon?

Sorry for bumping this thread back up, but I got a question.

I just got 2 Hanna Barbera MODs from Amazon (directly, not from a third party seller) and when I opened them, I noticed that the spine, the back and the disc say DVD Download.

Now, I've had other Warner Archive MODs like Step By Step where it say just DVD (cause it's burned and all), but never had this "Download" thingy. What does it mean, really? Anyone know?

Hopefully someone can answer this as I know the labeling you're referring to and always wondered the same thing.

My speculative thinking back when they were first produced was that Warner Archive was simply labeling some MOD collections this way because they were also available to download digitally.

Not sure about Touche Turtle, but I would love to see WB Archives revive doing unreleased HB animated series. There's still so much to come out.

Anyone clamoring for Touche Turtle? It would complete the trilogy of the new Hanna-Barbera cartoon series from 1962-63 along with Wally Gator and Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har.
Yes please! Touche Turtle is, in my opinion, the best option for reviving the Hanna-Barbera physical releases. He has a decent amount of cartoons, but it's a single show and overall less work compared to some of the other unreleased shows (at least it should be, depending on the quality of the original elements). Like you said, it would also complete that trilogy of HB shows, since we already have Wally Gator as well as Lippy Lion/Hardy Har Har.

With the success of the recent Looney Tunes releases, my hope is that Warner Archive looks at more of their animation back catalog for releases. They've already talked about starting work on a complete Barney Bear collection for next year, so there is evidence that the recent success of Looney Tunes on physical media is giving them the chance to experiment with other cartoons. It seems like for now, they're more focused on completing the theatrical short libraries. I wouldn't be surprised if we got the remaining 1950's Popeye shorts or the Happy Harmonies before they dove back into Hanna-Barbera.

I'd be happy with Touche Turtle, but I don't think it's the most marketable unreleased HB property.

Touché Turtle was still being shown here in the UK on BBC1 well into the late 90s and I remember it being a fun show so I’d welcome a release from WAC.
My top picks are Top Cat and Wacky Races (I’m surprised neither has been released on Blu-ray up to now). I’d also love to see complete releases of The QuickDraw McGraw Show, The Huckleberry Hound Show and The Yogi Bear show.

I would vote for a complete collection of the ABC Saturday Superstar Movie collection. It’s about an 8 or 10 series of standalone TV specials.

Also, would be great to finally see an official release of Alice In Wonderland (Or What’s A Nice Kid Like You Doing In A Place Like This).

Both would make for instant buys of MOD DVDs.

I personally feel that the animal mascot esque characters are HB's most marketable characters after Scooby Doo. Touche Turtle is definitely not the most popular, but the fact that he's a classic HB animal character is a big boost to his potential sales. I do agree that other animal character shows such as Ruff and Ready, Quickdraw McGraw or Huckleberry Hound would sell better, but they are far bigger shows to release, especially because there are multiple cartoon series within some of these programs. I would hope that if we ever get a complete Quickdraw or Huckleberry Hound release, they would also include complete runs of Pixie and Dixie, Yogi (his original run), Hokey Wolf, Snooper and Blather, Auggie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, etc.

What I recall is they had planned to do Touche Turtle after they had released Wally Gator and Lippy The Lion, but it's the same old story -- they only had 16mm film prints for the cartoons and they didn't have any negatives, so the quality wasn't deemed good enough.

Now, that's all well and good if there is possibly a better source that could be found later -- but if that's all they've got, then it is what it is. I would say at this point, do the best you can with what you have. As it is, that original 1962 cartoon package is left hanging and incomplete.

I think a lot of the early HB shows suffer from the short cartoon format. Those cartoons tend to run together. The characters are great but the 22 minute format is superior. I showed my kids lots off vintage HB and they really preferred Yogi's Gang over the 50s and 60s originals.

Even Yogi and Huck and Hokey are funny and watchable, though, when compared to Ruff and Ready, which does not hold up well today. Those three minute minisodes have no sustainability. Even watching half a dozen or more back to back is tedious, whereas I could watch a bunch of Hokey Wolf cartoons, due to the longer length, superior writing, and much better voice characterizations.

It maybe wishful thinking but I’d be very surprised if we don’t get one or two sets after the success of the LT discs. Top Cat and Wacky Races (restored to its proper 25 minute run time) would be my choices.
