all 16 or so news networks airing the EXACT same danged special report? In a way, it's almost kind of fun flipping through the channels, seeing wich ones have the best color resolution and sound, wich is really noticeable on some more than others. But Last night, as always, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, MSNBC and countless others always show the same news report. There must be some kind of logic behind it, but I just don't get it.

I understand the big three needing to cover it at the same time. Histroy making big news, and they've been doing it since the inception of TV/Radio. But do ALL the networks need to follow suit?

As long as we're talking peeves here, mine is the late news teasers:

"Is your baby crib a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your microwave over a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your SUV a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your swimming pool a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your lunch a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your vacuum cleaner a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your laundry detergent a death trap? Tonight at 11"

"Is your bar of soap a death trap? Tonight at 11"

The technique is abundantly evident. The teasers are parodies of real news at this point. News has been replaced with scary stories. And cynicism is masquerading as intellect in probably 90% of the "reporters". I put that in quotes because most seem to be acting the part of a reporter, dressing up in ways they think "cool reporters" would dress, and asking "probing questions" like they imagine a real reporter would.

Second pet peeve is when the human interest stories are obviously just some personal friends of the reporter who they'd previously shared caseroles with.

But it is their cynical attitudes are a real turn off. It rubs off on the viewers (obviously), and makes our society sick.
