newbie question - purchasing online??? (1 Viewer)

hey guys. i posted a budget receiver recommendation question in the 'receiver' forum. but i have another question. what is the general perception of buying equipment online from a non-authorized dealer? from what i've read some (etronics) do offer some sort of warranty/repair program for up to 5 years. is it worth saving $$$ (several hundred in the models i am considering) from someone like etronics or should i just suck it up and pay retail or an authorized online dealer? i am currently building a house so every penny counts. thanks for your input.
