On my receiver (RCA RT2500) each of 6 speakers can be set to large/small/none. Right now I have no center channel speaker. If I set it to None, will the center channel be redirected to the front left/right channels?
My 10yr old ProLogic system has a phantom center setting to do this, but I see no corresponding setting in my RCA manual. Do modern digital decoders have a phantom centre type setting?

Yes if you set your center to none all the center info will be redirected to your main speakers.

You probably won't even notice that you don't have a center chanel. Your front will act like stereo speakers and put the dialog in the middle of the sound stage. Sometimes when I am listening to stereo music, I could swear that my center speaker is working, but when I check, it isn't.
