Hey all! I'm new arround here (and sorta new to HT) and am in the process of buying a reciever for the HT that I am building. I'd like to spend ~$1000 on it, and so far I am beween the Denon 3802 and the Onkyo 797/898. I am leaning more towards the Onkyo side, and as I browsed the spec lists I started to wonder where the extra $500 for the 898 is going to. From what I can see, the 797 and 898 are identical except for the 898 is touch more powerfull and has an extra amplifier channel for two SB's. Am I missing something here? BTW, the reason I inlcude the 898 in my list is because I can get in online for $1100.

If you have any reccomendations I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

My System (90% HT, 10% Music)

    F L/R - Klipsch SB-2's

    C - Klipsch SC-1

    S L/R - Klipsch SS-1's

    Sub - Klipsch KSW-12

SB - Probobly a left over Bose (dont go nuts!)

    TV - 32" Sony Wega

Reciever - Old Kennwood VR-205 (Being replaced SOON!)

    VCR - JVC HS-4600

    DVD - Custom HTPC

I would say go with either the Denon 3802 or the Onkyo 898, both should last through many upgrades.

Sorry if that wasn't much help.

    And welcome to the HTF!
