New TOSHIBA Widescreen Sizes Announced!

    I am not sure if this was mentioned before. I recently read in TWICE magazine that Toshiba announced widescreen sizes of 42", 50" and 53". They will be dropping the 40" and 56" models from their line. They expect the 50" model, 50HX81, to be the big seller as it meets a need for a nice sized, spouse friendly screen size. It will retail for $3299. The 42" will street in August for $2699 and the other three will come out supposedly later this month.
    Whoops-I just did a deeper search and found a few threads on this already.

    I wonder if Toshiba will have discrete remote codes for their new TVs, especially with On/Off and video inputs. Believe it or not, that's the main reason I have been avoiding Toshiba products thus far. [​IMG] (remote control neurosis)

    Are you sure about a 53" model. I've heard nothing of this.
    Also, they are not really dropping the 56" model, just giving it an extra inch to make it a 57" model. Here's a link the manual for some of these new models:
