My New Toshiba 65H82 just made a popping sound and the
screen went black for about a half second and came back
and everything seems to be OK.
This is the second time it has happened since I got it a week ago.
The first time it happened was during normal viewing.
This time I was in the middle of doing the 56 pt. convergence and the TV did not reset.
It didn't kick me out of service mode.
Please tell me it is just burning in and that I am not
going to be returning it soon.
Is this normal? This is my first RPTV.[IMG]

Yes, it is normal. Something to do with the CRTS breaking in. The manual for my 50H82 said that it is normal for the first month or so.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case.
I should correct myself. This is my second RPTV.
The first was a Toshiba 57H81 2 weeks ago.
The picture dipped so badly on one side that I returned
it to the store and got the 65H82 for 600 bucks more.
Now I will have to glue my front speakers to the ceiling
    but the picture is great.
Apparently the way Toshiba is able to give such
a good picture for such a low price is the customer
must do quality control for them. [IMG]
I don't mind, too much, as long as the popping stops.

    David,

A couple of questions for you:

1-How is the 65" picture? I have the 65HDX82 on order and am curious to how it looks.

2-Just curious as to what you paid? I got my HDX for $2600 delivered plus tax. And want to make sure I got the best price.

    Thanks!

    The picture is great, excellent.
I was surprised how good regular 4:3 satellite TV broadcasts look stretched
to fit 16:9. Toshiba does it the best IMO.
It does make people look a little fatter especially near the edge of the screen.
That Allie MacBeal chick looks almost human now.
I paid $3000 for mine from a local store.
So, I also paid tax. Thanks for making me feel like crap.
I was going to buy from an online store but decided it
would be worth the extra money to have someone to yell at
    in person. [IMG]

    Dave,
My intention was not to make you feel bad. It was to make me feel better that I got a good deal. This is the most I have ever spent on something that didn't have 4 wheels and doors. [IMG] By the way, I got mine at a B&M (6th Avenue Electronics).
I also have Dish Network and was curious to how the picture looked. Thanks for alleviating my fears.

I'm glad I set your mind at ease. I also know
exactly what you mean about the money.
I had my ailing mother staying with me and she
offered the perfect excuse for the big purchase.
"What's that Mom? You can't see the television?"
Well we'll take care of that. [IMG]
Now that I have finally upgraded from my 32" TV
I need to start looking at upgrading speakers.
My little klipsch center looks like a zit on that
big 65" behemoth. It will have to do for at least
    a few months.
