Well I have started school, for my Bachelors, on July 2nd and will be getting some money to buy new computers. I want to build a HTPC but that will also double as a desktop. Here is what I am thinking for the hardware...
ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE LGA 1155 Intel Z77 Motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Quad-Core
SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold 650W SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply
ASUS Black SATA Blu-ray Burner (x2)
Kingston HyperX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 XMP T1 Series
XFX FX-785A-CNFC Radeon HD 7850 2GB PCI Express 3.0 x16
I want to hook it directly to the TV in the media room, but then set it up for dual monitors but have it use wireless VGA to the monitor on my desk that is maybe 20 feet away. That way people can watch movies and use the computer at the same time. Movies will play on the LG LCD/LED HDTV screen while other PC related tasks will be done on the computer monitor. This type of setup should work fine, shouldn't it?
I have opted out of a high cable bill and have installed a TV antenna in my new home which I have been in now with my wife for over a year. I'm going to install an amplifier on the antenna but I am wondering, can I record OTA TV shows? If so will any of the Hauppauge cards work? Is there a certain feature I need to look for to record OTA TV shows?
Thank you all in advance for the help
