I have been upgrading my HT system piece by piece. I started with a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 and a Pioneer 1014. Now it is time for a new sub. Should I stick with Paradigm or go with another sub? If so, what type would it be?

Timbre matching your sub to your speakers is not as important as having timbre matched speakers (i.e. having the same brand and tone quality). because the frequency range for the sub is completely different than the others. Paradigm is a good company and you can't go wrong, but many feel the internet direct companies like SVS and Hsu offer much more bang for your buck. On average, the SVS and Hsu brands will play deeper and louder, with a flatter frequency curve, than a comparably priced brick and mortar (i.e. "store bought") sub. Both are well liked on this site and you can find voluminous testimonies as to their value, quality and excellent customer service here at the HTF.
