I am planning on building a coffe table type subwoofer, and have an 15" JBL Woofer from a stage system. Will this work, and if not, why? It is 4 Ohm.

It will almost certainly "work", although without any specs or other information there's no way to determine anything other than it'll make noise. Most likely, being from a stage (PA?) system, it's not suited to HT subwoofer use (say, below 40Hz). Just a guess, though.

Well it might not have that much "deep" bass, but it probably has oodles of efficiency and can hit ya hard in the chest. haha

What would be bad is if it doesn't go very deep at all....

If u want u could always replace the subwoofer driver and get a new 15" once u realize it sounds bad...

Maybe just keep in mind the internal volume or porting. Then u can shop for a driver that would work as a direct replacement for your JBL 15".
