Dang if I didn't have an AV-12 and another soon on the way
I would go for these little beasts!

Pretty nice. Extremely similar to the 12" Dayton DVC from PE, which is on sale periodically for $85.

All made in china I might add

Not that i have anything against Chinese products. My tempest is made in china. All i'm saying, we are comparing apples to oranges, IMO.

How are we comparing Apples to Oranges?

A Sub is a Sub they are meant to do one thing.. Make Bass.

The Shiva, Dayton and the new Stryke SA12 all compare very
favorably and all are Budget Priced for those who may not
have $180-$350.00 to shell out for one driver.

Made in China? That's interesting since there's an American flag and "Made in USA" on the side of the box. IIRC, the Shiva, Tempest, DVC 12 and 15, are made by Eminence, which is a US company. The AV12 is made by TC Sounds, also in the US. Sure some of the parts are made in China but so what? This is akin to people that will only buy "American Made" cars. Last time I checked Toyota and Mercedes have plants in the US. So what does "American Made" mean these days?

OooooOOkay.... whatever. I agree to disagree. :p

At anyrate, kyle, is der charge if i ask for roudover edges on just left and right sides of the baffle? I looking into order one of your flat kits for 214L tempest and av15. I might just swap out the tempest with av15 and build another box for the tempest. It would be better for the tempest to sit in a 214L ported box, IMO. Smallbox with av15 will probably go in my computer room.

Andrus,

I don't understand where there's any room for an opinion or disagreement. The drivers are built here in the US.

As Brian states, the Tempests are built in the US. Baskets are US sourced, top and back plates are stamped in the US, cores are sintered in the US, voice coil and former are wound in the US, cone, surround, spider, and dustcaps are made in the US. All engineers involved are located in the US. The glues used are also sourced from the US, as are the front gaskets, the box, and the packing foam.

The only parts that are from overseas are the magnets, which were US sourced until October 2001 when General Magnetics, the last US manufacturer of loudspeaker magnets, closed permanently.

If you'd like to think otherwise, I guess that's your right; however, it would still be quite incorrect. I've been to the line and seen the drivers roll off of it, and it's located about 45 minutes outside of Louisville, KY. Quite a distance from China.

And even if they were made in China, so what?

It's a Global Economy and a Global Market... Not everything
can be made in the US and so what if it's not?

Technicly speaking I believe that Texas is the only state
that never ratified and could legaly back out and become
thier own soveirgn nation..

I'd give California away though, if I could..
